The above content is the actual ad on Mandalay bay Hotel's official website. As one of Summer package deals, the Hotel is promoting "All Day Buffet".
Isn't "All Day" = literally 24 hours???
However, this is what it really offers:
Breakfast is served from 7:a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Dinner is served from 4:45 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.
What it means? If you arrive there after 2:30pm, like the Hotel recommends on their website(see below blue context) for a normal check in, you are out of luck!. That's right!!! This is what happened to me.
When making reservations, I've told the operator/guest relations/reservations that I purchased the "All Day Buffet" package and asked for an early check in.
The operator/guest relations/reservations advised me of their Check In time, which starts at 3:00pm. She said she'll put in a request but it is not advised for guests to check in early. When I asked about the "All Day Buffet", she said it was "All Day".
So, I arrived at The Mandalay bay Hotel at 2:51pm, feeling bit hungry.
At the counter I was pleasantly surprised to find out that so called "All Day Buffet" was not for "All Day!". They had time slots.
The front desk clerk said since I arrived after the Lunch Buffet, I can only go for dinner for that day. She was even kind enough to tell me that on the day of the check out, "there will be NO breakfast" period!
Since I booked to stay for two nights, under normal conditions, my belief was that I was entitled for six meals. (Remember Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) per day?
Instead, I was only entitled for Dinner (check in day), Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (next day) and NO Breakfast on the day of the check out.
This left me with ONLY FOUR(quartro) MEALS!!!!!!!!!!!
According to my calculation, this is one day plus one meal. I even had to pay extra $ 56.00/kid x 2 per day for an additional guests. The package only covers two adults.
When I requested to talk to the manager, after waiting for more than 15 minutes, the front desk manager agreed to give us breakfast on the day of the check out. This is what she actually said:
"I will GIVE you the Breakfast!"
Wow~ "Give"? I thought I was paying for all this! Am I not??
Sadly, not even the manager could do anything about two meals that I have missed on the day of the arrival. Her answer was "Breakfast and Lunch is already closed".
Funny thing is that on their advertisement, they do not mention any time slots, leaving normal people like me to believe that the Buffet is all day, 24 hours!

What time is check in and check out? Can we request a late check out? Our normal check in time is 3pm.
If you arrive before 3 you are welcome to check with the front desk, as they start doing pre-registration around Noon. If they have rooms prepared they may be able to check you in early. If not, you are welcome to leave your luggage at the bell desk and enjoy the restaurants, pool, spa and gaming areas until your room is ready.
Our normal check out time is 11am. On the day of check out you can speak with the front desk regarding a late check out. Rates and availability are based upon occupancy. If a late check out cannot be arranged you are welcome to leave your luggage at the bell desk and enjoy the restaurants and gaming areas until your departure time.
After the trip, Mandalay bay hotel sent me a survey via e-mail. So, I invested 15 minutes of my time to fill out the survey, mentioning and my dissatisfaction about their "All Day Buffer" deal. And below is the response I got from one of their Guest relations representatives:
"I regret that you were unable to take full advantage of the All Day Buffet package you purchased. Unfortunately, you arrived at a time when the buffet was closed to prepare for dinner service. Breakfast is served from 7:a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., and Dinner is served from 4:45 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. Our records indicate that you were registered to your room at 2:51 p.m. on July 29; thereby missing the breakfast and lunch buffet If you had scheduled an earlier arrival, we would have been happy to pre-register you to your room so that you could charge your buffet breakfast and lunch to your room account and receive your room keys during our standard registration time or possibly earlier."
Hello???? I did request for an early check in???
When I replied her back, this is what she said:
"Since the buffet promotion has been running, to date, your survey comments are the only ones that we have received voicing any concerns about the promotion but, please be assured, your comments are still very important to us. I will be certain to share them with our Reservations Call Center and Internet Marketing department. As indicated in my initial email, it would never be our intention to mislead our guests – not even one – in any way."
Wow~ Instead of thanking me to improve their services and pionting out their misleading ad, I am criticized for voicing concerns??????????!!!!!!!! This is how they appreciate my feedback.
Hmmmmm.
I guess, I should not voice my concerns after all! Although, guests like me are confused and dissatisfied, we should just keep quiet and shut up!

What a deal, what a Hotel.... and what a guest relations person!
What Mandalay Bay Hotel should have done was to give out "Meal Tickets" to guests who bought "All Day Buffet" package. Three tickets per stay per person. Regardless of time slots and let guests enjoy buffet anytime they want three times a day!
So, my advice to all this?
Don't believe what they say about hotel promotions... Don't believe "All Day Buffet" means literally all day... Don't complain and voice your concerns, because you'll go nowhere!
I guess this is my last visit to the Mandalay bay Hotel.
눈가리고 아옹식의 만달레이 베이 호텔 부페 패키지.
침체된 미국 경기로 환락과 도박의 도시, 라스베가스가 울쌍이다. 라스베가스 스트립을 대낮같이 밝혀놓고 "그때 그시절"을 추구하는 이들 호텔들의 마케팅 노력이 눈물겹다. 경기좋을때 $150-$200 하는 일반 방들을 $19-$50선으로 낮추고 부폐 페케지, 쑈 페케지등등 저렴한 가격에 호텔방을 제공하면서 손님들 잡기에 혈안이다.
얼마전 라스베가스 호텔 중 수영장 시설이 가장 좋다는 만달레이 베이 호텔 스위트 룸에 묵었었다. 그들이 제공하는 "하루종일 부페"페케지 까지 샀다.
하지만, 미국의 이런 대형 호텔들도 그들이 광고하는 내용과 실상 체크인 해서 알게되는 내용과는 딴 판임을 알게되 매우 실망을 하게될때가 있다.
"ALL DAY BUFFET"는 말 그대로 하루종일 이어야 함에도, 이들은 오후 2시 50분에 채크인 한 우리에게 아침과 점심은 이미 늦었고 저녁만 해당당일 제공된다고 했다. 또한, 마지막 날, 체크 아웃하는 날에는 당연히 제공해야할 아침도 못 준다는 것이었다.
결과적으로, 이틀밤을 예약 했는데, 도착한 날 저녁, 다음날 세끼밖에 재공을 안한다는 것이었다. 세상에! 미국, 유럽, 아시아 등등 수많은 호텔을 다녀봤지만, 체크아웃 하는날 아침을 제공 못한다는 것도 처음이었고, ALL DAY BUFFET라 광고를 하는 하루종일 부페가 아침, 점심, 저녁으로 나누어져 제공되며, 늦으면 혜택이 없을 줄이야.
사람수 마다 돈을 냈으니, 하루 세끼 (이들의 광고처럼), 우리같이 이틀을 예약 한 손님들에게는 총 여섯끼가 제공되어야 함에도 이들은 이핑게 저핑계로 이를 존중하지 않았다.
이런 눈가리고 아옹하는 식의 얄팍한 상술은 우리를 분노케 한다.
특히나, 음식임심이 후하고 잠을 자지 않는 라스베가스 호텔서 그것도 부페가 시간별로 나누어져 있다는 것 자체가 말도 안되는 것이었다.
이런 모순을 제기한 필자에게 그들의 고객담당자는 일찍 체크인을 했으면 혜택을 다 누렸을 것이란 송아지 껍씹는 소리를 했다. 그들의 예약담당자는 호텔 테크인이 오후 3시부터라 하는것을 부러 모르는 체 했는지는 몰라도, 필자에게 연락을 해 온 고객담당자는 이 부페 폐케지 관련, 문제를 제기한 사람이 나 하나뿐이란다.
맙소사!
만달레이 베이 호텔!
불경기임에도 배가 부른건지, 아니면 그들의 예약과, 요식과, 프런트 데스크, 고객담당부서가 모두 뒤죽박죽인지, 이러면서도 장사를 하겠다고?
이번의 경험으로써, 만달레이 베이 호텔은 나의 라스베가스 호텔 리스트에서 제외가 됐음은 확실하다!
